On 6 May 2014, Women’s Information Center (WIC) addressed the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure with a request to appoint Gender Advisor in order to introduce gender mainstreaming.
In return, on 16 June 2014, we received a letter from the Ministry stating that Anna Kutateladze has been appointed as Gender Advisor of the Minister. Women’s Information Center once again expressed hope that such close cooperation with the Ministry will have a continuous character, thus contributing to the development of gender institutional mechanisms at the local level.
Upon the recommendation of Women’s Information Center, Davit Narmania also appointed gender advisor, when he was holding the position of the minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure. In addition to the Ministry, 49 gender advisors have also been appointed in local self-governments across Georgia.
In addition to the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure, important steps have been made in the Ministry of Defense as well. They expressed their willingness to pursue state policy on gender equality. Training in the Defense Academy was conducted within the framework of the project “Women for equality, peace and development”.
