
Annual Young Women’s Peace Award in Caucasus has a Georgian laureate. Megi Bibiluri was nominated for the award by Women’s Information Center and the Coalition “for Women’s Political Engagement”.
Bibiluri, who is a head of Shida Kartli based organization “Friendship Bridge – Kartlosi” and the representative of Women’s Information Center in the region, is the first Georgian receiving this award.
It’s been years that Megi Bibiluri is working on development of dialogue between Georgian and Ossetian societies, and women’s rights defense issues. She spoke about women’s special role and importance in peace-building processes and noted that women are those who are primarily affected by the war and conflict circumstances. Bibiluri emphasized the social and security problems faced by the conflict area residents.
Moreover, “Friendship Bridge – Kartlosi” is organizing meetings of Georgian and Ossetian people, who were living together before conflicts. Megi Bibiluri is engaged in various projects. Under the aegis of Women’s Information Center, she is working on the issues of the Coalition “for Women’s Political Engagement”. Bibiluri believes that women’s coming to politics will play a special role in peace-building processes.
Award ceremony, which took place in Yerevan, was attended by Nino Modebadze, the representative of Women’s Information Center and Chairman of Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Georgian Committee. Forum was organized by Swedish Foundation “Kvinna till Kvinna”.
Annual award has established three years ago. According to the organizers of the conference, idea of the award arose from peace-building activities of the famous Armenian rights defender, Anahit Bayandur. It is given to young women working on peace-building issues in the region. Nine women are already laureates of the award.

On July 26, 2019, representatives of the Women's Information Center organized a focus group in Kobuleti Municipality that included local leaders and women entrepreneurs who use / do not use the Women's Room Service.The purpose of the focus group was to evaluate the use of women's room services in the municipality for effective planning of further work.
