Concerning situation in Abkhazia in recent period , Women’s Information Center announced special appeal, where called upon the parties to resolve tension by means of peace talks.
We are concerned, because in case of escalation, peaceful population, and especially women and children will be affected. We express solidarity to women of Abkhazia and hope that parties will act in a sensible way to prevent conflict and violence. We are calling upon international community to give special attention to the events taking place in Abkhazia, in order to make sure that situation is developing without tension and complications,” – says the statement.
One of the components of the project “Women as agents for change and development” is active engagement of women in peace processes. In this view, bilateral meetings with the women residents of conflict regions will be held on neutral territory, what will contribute to the development of people-to-people diplomacy and confidence restoration.
