Women’s Information Center, with the support of the National Library of Georgia, organized an opening of the library in the village Kvemo Khalatsani of Pankisi Gorge. Event was conducted within the framework of the project “Gender sensitive information for gender equality in Georgia”.
The idea of the library initiated from one of the advisory meetings with Pankisi resident women. Women from Pankisi mentioned that local residents had to go to the neighboring villages for the library, and they needed to have their own library in the village, which is important for education and awareness raising.
Through mediation of WIC, a space in the Gamgeoba building of Kvemo Khalatsani has been allocated, repaired and equipped. Organization contacted the National Library, which handed over up to 500 books.
Representatives of local government attended the opening ceremony. Among them were Attorney and Gender Advisor of the local self-government. According to the attorney, self-government of the village is starting to work toward computerization and internet providing of the library in the nearest future, allowing residents of Khalatsani to obtain information through web pages as well.
In order to enrich base of the library, Women’s Information Center is planning to start working with publishers.

On July 26, 2019, representatives of the Women's Information Center organized a focus group in Kobuleti Municipality that included local leaders and women entrepreneurs who use / do not use the Women's Room Service.The purpose of the focus group was to evaluate the use of women's room services in the municipality for effective planning of further work.
