New York, 10-21 March 2014. People of the world interested in women’s issues are keeping an eye on events and waiting for the final conclusions to be published by the 58th Session of UN Commission on the Status of Women. These conclusions will determine a new line in improvement of women’s status. The main topics are Millennium Development Goals, challenges and post-2015 agenda. UN member states, UN Agencies and accredited NGOs having ECOSOC status are talking on progress and challenges worldwide.
In return, on 16 June 2014, we received a letter from the Ministry stating that Anna Kutateladze has been appointed as Gender Advisor of the Minister. Women’s Information Center once again expressed hope that such close cooperation with the Ministry will have a continuous character, thus contributing to the development of gender institutional mechanisms at the local level.
Women’s Information Center, in cooperation with Gender Equality Council and World Vision, held a presentation of the report on gender evaluation research. Research covered the following fields: political participation and governance, gender and media, distribution of roles, healthcare, education, labour market, violence against women, human trafficking, etc. Document reflects actual situation in Georgia in terms of gender and emphasizes that domestic violence remains one of the main problems. Author of the research is Elene Rusetskaia.
Women’s Information Center prepared a report for CEDAW Committee, based on the recommendations of 13 NGOs and 2 gender networks. The Committee will review the document on 8 July 2014.
On 58th Session of UN Commission on the Status of Women in New York, Network of East-West Women was represented by its member, Women’s Information Center. Elene Rusetskaia and Mariam Robitashvili were actively watching after the session events, participating in conferences and side events.
In February 2014, at the meeting organized by WIC, covering preparatory period for 2014 local elections, establishment of National Task Force was decided. Task Force aims promotion of women’s political engagement for local self-government elections, in cooperation with different actors. Representatives of legislative and executive governments, as well as NGOs and political parties attended the meeting. NDI took responsibility for the coordination of the Task Force.

On July 26, 2019, representatives of the Women's Information Center organized a focus group in Kobuleti Municipality that included local leaders and women entrepreneurs who use / do not use the Women's Room Service.The purpose of the focus group was to evaluate the use of women's room services in the municipality for effective planning of further work.
