The Women's Information Center team, at the Headquarters of the United Nations, attended the Global Network of Women Peacebuilders (GNWP) event - Investing in Women’s Leadership: Women’s Participation in Recovery and Reconstruction Efforts.

In conflict-affected and post-conflict countries, women’s economic and political participation is a critical element of recovery and reconstruction. Despite this reality, women’s contributions are largely unrecognized and under-supported. To respond to this reality, the Global Network of Women Peacebuilders (GNWP), with the support of UN Women, and in collaboration with Dr. Jacqui True, conducted a research study on "Women’s Participation in Economic Recovery Post-Conflict and Reconstruction in Conflict-Affected and Post-Conflict Countries."

Within the event, GNWP presented the main findings of the research on women's participation, shared the experiences of different countries. In addition, current practices were discussed, and future perspectives were identified. It was noted that there is a need for an action-oriented approach, taking into account recommendations that strengthen the role of women in the mentioned processes.

Within the framework of the GNWP event, reports were presented by women's rights defenders from different countries of the world and the chairman of the board of the Women's Information Center from Georgia, Ms. Elene Rusetskaya, who spoke about the process of localization of UN Resolution #1325 and the challenges that exist for its implementation in Georgia.

We take great pride in announcing that WIC from Georgia has been bestowed with the esteemed CAREC PROGRAM Gender Award—CAREC GENDER CHAMPIONS 2023. Certainly, it is noteworthy that women's organizations from various countries around the world were nominated for this prestigious award

On July 26, 2019, representatives of the Women's Information Center organized a focus group in Kobuleti Municipality that included local leaders and women entrepreneurs who use / do not use the Women's Room Service. The purpose of the focus group was to evaluate the use of women's room services in the municipality for effective planning of further work.
