Voices of Georgian Women living in the rural areas reached New-York, within the frame of CSW 68 session. During the event hosted by the Women’s Information Center achievements and needs were introduced for which WIC has been fighting on the way of enhancing women’s rights and gender equality.

The event was attended by the representatives of international community, diplomatic corps and women rights defenders worldwide. Notably, the artworks of photographer Natela Grigalasvili and cartoonist Zaliko Sulakauri depicted the lives and challenges faced by women in the Racha region and Kharagauli municipality. The photos and caricatures presented everyday life and needs of women living in the rural areas of Georgia.

Additionally, WIC exhibited dolls crafted by women entrepreneurs from Khashuri municipality, demonstrating both women’s economic empowerment and the preservation of Georgian culture.

Gender mainstreaming in Georgia, women’s empowerment and enhancement of inclusive policy, importance of youth engagement in peace-building processes – these were the main topics regarding which the experience and good practices were shared and discussion was held with the engagement of international community.

The event “Women’s Empowerment and Formation of Gender Inclusive Future” was implemented with the support of German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and Danish organization KVINFO.

We take great pride in announcing that WIC from Georgia has been bestowed with the esteemed CAREC PROGRAM Gender Award—CAREC GENDER CHAMPIONS 2023. Certainly, it is noteworthy that women's organizations from various countries around the world were nominated for this prestigious award
