In February 2014, at the meeting organized by WIC, covering preparatory period for 2014 local elections, establishment of National Task Force was decided. Task Force aims promotion of women’s political engagement for local self-government elections, in cooperation with different actors. Representatives of legislative and executive governments, as well as NGOs and political parties attended the meeting. NDI took responsibility for the coordination of the Task Force.

Establishment of Task Force became necessary as local self-government elections were approaching. One of its goals is creation of joint platform at decision-making level in order to increase women’s participation. In order to mobilize resources and consolidated work in the future, WIC drew up a mapping document, which included activities of 14 organizations involved in Task Force scheduled before the elections.

Task Force “For Women’s Political Engagement in Georgia” continues its work after elections. In addition to 14 NGOs, among the members of the group are the representatives of international and donor organizations, Public Defender, CEC, and political parties.

With the view to support women’s political engagement, within the framework if the USAID supported project “Women as agents for changes and empowerment”, Women’s Information Center created a database of leader women and those who are willing to be engaged in politics. Database, which includes contact details of more then one hundred women from target regions, is subject to continuous update.

We take great pride in announcing that WIC from Georgia has been bestowed with the esteemed CAREC PROGRAM Gender Award—CAREC GENDER CHAMPIONS 2023. Certainly, it is noteworthy that women's organizations from various countries around the world were nominated for this prestigious award
