Organized by the National Association of Local Self-Governments, with the support of the Un Women and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway, a coordination meeting was held. The meeting was aimed at promoting the implementation of the local gender equality policy.
The conversation touched on such issues as the progress achieved in terms of local action plans for gender equality and the involvement of women/girls living in municipalities in the process of planning, implementation, and monitoring of local policies.
Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Mzia Giorgobiani, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Human Rights, Niko Tatulashvili, and Deputy Representative of UN Women in Georgia, Tamar Sabedashvili participated in the meeting. Maka Feradze, the head of the human rights secretariat of the government administration, spoke about the implementation of gender equality action plans and challenges. It was noted that the localization of action plans is especially necessary.
In the second part of the meeting, the head of the Women's Information Center, Elene Rusetskaya, who is at the same time a consultant of the UN Women's Organization and the author of the study, presented the study. The research was carried out in three municipalities with the support of the UN Women's Organization, within the framework of the project "Good Governance for Gender Equality in Georgia" financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway.
