Within the framework of the 16-day campaign against gender violence, a working meeting was held in Khashuri on the joint initiative of the Women's Information Center (WIC), Khashuri Municipality Mayor's Office, and the Gender Equality Council.
The project manager of the Women’s Information Center, Teona Chikovani opened the event.
Within the framework of the workshop, a presentation of the research conducted by WIC on the issues of women's political participation, gender stereotypes, and violence against women and/or domestic violence in five municipalities was held.
The study was presented by: Lela Khomeriki and Maya Kuprava-Sharvashidze. Experts discussed the growth of women's political participation, the positive impact of the gender quota mechanism on political life, and the reduced dynamics of harmful gender stereotypes.
The event was attended by the decision-makers of the municipality, Khashuri Gender Council, and City Council, including members of the American Corner and representatives of the civil sector.
The presentation continued in discussion mode. The participants shared their evaluations of the research and discussed ways to achieve economic empowerment of women and plans for future cooperation.
The project aims to produce a research-based information campaign. The Women's Information Center conducted research in Khashuri, Bolnisi, Keda, Zugdidi, and Kharagauli.
The research was conducted within the framework of the project "Women's Empowerment and Meaningful Participation in Local Gender Politics", which is supported by the Danish organization KVINFO and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.
